How to Sell IPv4 Addresses: A Step-by-Step Guide
Selling address space is not like selling a server. RIR policy, escrow and due diligence all matter. Here is the path from dormant block to completed transfer.

Step 1: Know what you hold
Pull your RIR records and confirm the block is yours, clean and transferable. Check blacklists and routing history — a block with spam reputation sells for less, and some buyers walk away entirely.
Step 2: Price it realistically
Benchmark against recent /24 transactions: small blocks carry a premium per address, larger blocks trade thinner, and RIPE/ARIN space commands the highest prices. Let the block’s actual dormancy data justify your ask.
Step 3: Find a buyer and use escrow
Brokers and marketplaces match buyers with sellers, but the safest route is a licensed escrow service: the buyer pays into escrow, the transfer is submitted to the RIR, and funds release only when the transfer completes.
Step 4: Complete the RIR transfer
Submit the transfer request under your RIR’s policy (ARIN 8.3, RIPE inter-RIR transfer policy, or the equivalent). Approval takes weeks, both parties must be eligible, and a legal contract should cover the process. Once approved, the space moves and the money releases.
How IPDORM helps sellers
Before you list a block, know exactly what you are selling: how long it has been silent, whether it is clean and what it is worth. That is the data buyers ask for first — and the data our scans provide.
